Asian Women Leadership Summit 2017


The Annual Asian Women in Leadership Summit provides an interactive platform to exchange views and reflect upon the challenges faced by Asian women in achieving leadership roles and learn from their experiences to create a culture that promotes gender diversity in a sustainable way and leads to the greater success of women in the executive leadership and board level roles. It is a platform for like-minded professionals (women & men) who feel gender is an important organizational issue which impacts the profitability and the overall health of the institution and also impacts the social setup of a region.

Every year, nearly 300 senior leaders from various fields including Business, Government, Arts, Sports, Social Services, Healthcare, Media and Entertainment gather in Singapore to discuss barriers to women advancement in Asia, their importance in changing the organization dynamics and gender diversity as a challenge and an opportunity. Successful leaders across all walks of life share their journeys to success which is a learning experience for individuals and organizations in creating strategies and environment essential to women achieving their potential.

The Annual Summit gives you an opportunity to connect with 300+ decision makers’ men & women from diverse industries in Asia. Ooi Huey Tyng
Country Manager-Visa

A Master of Science Graduate and a Certified Public Accountant,  Ooi Huey Tyng (Tyng) is Visa’s Country Manager for Singapore and Brunei and is responsible for the overall country strategy, growth priorities, innovation/digital roadmap and P&L of the business in these two markets.  Prior to Visa, Tyng served as Head of Cards and Unsecured Loans at DBS Bank Limited and held senior roles at United Overseas Bank Limited and Citibank Singapore Limited. She started her career as a Financial Analyst in Procter and Gamble and worked in General Motors and Otis Elevator.

In her 25-year professional career, Tyng has gained valuable insights in the consumer banking and payments sectors from the perspectives of clients and practitioners.

She is a nominated subcommittee member of the Committee of the Future Economy (CFE), a committee set up by Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong to develop economic strategies to position Singapore for the future as a smart nation. She is a member of the Diversity & Inclusion committee for Asia Pacific at the workplace and an active participant of The Diversity Action Committee (DAC).

Juliet Bourke
Human Capital Partner, Deloitte

Juliet leads Deloitte Australia’s Diversity and Inclusion Consulting practice and co-leads the Leadership practice. She has over 25 years’ experience in human capital, management and law. Juliet works with Executives and global organisations to improve workplace performance through cultural change, focussing on D&I, leadership and culture.

Her latest book,the 2016 bestseller entitled ‘Which two heads are better than one?: How diverse teams create breakthrough ideas and make smarter decisions’, helps leaders understand how to systematically create diverse thinking and take team performance to the next level.

Juliet is a member of the Australian firm’s Diversity Council, and sits on a number of boards and award panels, such as the Telstra Business Awards, the Harvard’s Women’s Leadership Board, the Reserve Bank of Australia’s Diversity Council and the Deloitte University Press Editorial Review Board. Juliet’s own awards include Women Lawyers Association of NSW (Achievement Award), University of NSW (Alumni Award) and Centre for Leadership for Women.

Vinika Devasar Rao

After completing her MBA from IIM, Bangalore, Vinika started her career with a multinational bank in India, went on to become General Manager of an American Asian JV in the field of industrial chemicals and later became the Managing Director of a listed real estate company in Indonesia.

She co-founded a boutique advisory firm working with mid-cap SE Asian companies, before making a serendipitous transition to the education sector. She taught business strategy to MBAs & Executives, headed INSEAD’s career development centre in Asia, and then moved to develop the INSEAD Emerging Markets Institute.

Charles Brewer
CEO - DHL eCommerce

Charles Brewer is CEO of DHL eCommerce, a division of Deutsche Post DHL Group. In his role, he leads a global team responsible for developing solutions that enable the eCommerce sector.

Charles is a proven expert in supply chain, international shipping and e-commerce with over 32 years of industry experience, covering multiple regions and disciplines across Europe, Asia Pacific, the Americas and Africa.

Prior to joining DHL eCommerce, Charles was the Managing Director for DHL Express, Sub-Saharan Africa where he was responsible for the successful business and operations of 54 countries, having more than 50,000 customers and 4,000 employees.

Charles started his career at DHL in the UK, before moving to the DHL Express Asia Pacific region where he was appointed Country Manager for Philippines and subsequently Country Manager for Malaysia. After Asia Pacific, Charles spent 5 years in the Americas region, where he first led the commercial organization and later was the General Manager for the North East region. Charles has lived and worked in multiple countries and is now based in Singapore.

Hari V Krishnan
CEO- PropertyGuru Group

Hari is a seasoned commercial general manager, who has spent the last decade helping offline industries in Asia ‘go digital’. He brings with him more than 15 years of industry leadership – accelerating customer satisfaction, revenue growth, and user growth strategies for technology and consumer internet organisations across APAC and the US.

As the Chief Executive Officer of PropertyGuru Group, Hari leads the corporate direction and business strategy of the PropertyGuru Group of companies and brands and oversees the day-to-day operations across Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia.

Prior to PropertyGuru, Hari was the Vice President & Managing Director of APAC & Japan at LinkedIn, where he led over 1,000 employees across 10 offices to create and deliver value for more than 80 million members. He has also worked in leadership positions in companies such as Fox Interactive Media, Yahoo! and Cisco, and start-ups like Travelguru.

He sits on the board of the Singapore chapter of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE), an organisation focused on fostering entrepreneurship. Hari holds an MBA from INSEAD and an M.S. in Telecommunications from the University of Colorado.

Catherine Feldhausen
Director, Strategy and Marketing ASIA- Microsoft

Catherine Feldhausen is Director Strategy and Marketing, Microsoft Services ASIA responsible for enabling solution marketing teams to reach, delight and enable customers across Asia Pac through innovative solutions and positioning the art of possible through leading edge technologies to accelerate customers’ own transformation through digital.

She is an experienced senior leader having worked in IT for over 20 years in Asia Pac and US and excels in building trusted relationships, working collaboratively across cultures, creative problem solver, driving projects to successful conclusion to accelerate business success. Previous roles at Microsoft have included successfully managing deployments of internal business applications worldwide, support startup organizations and extensive program management.

After graduating from University of Wollongong with Bachelor of Commerce, Catherine worked in the financial markets in Australia and UK for 7 years as an analyst where she developed a system for the trading of securities and derivatives. She joined Microsoft in 1995 to follow her passion of using data to drive business outcomes.

Sabrina Tan

Jessica Tan
Member of Parliament

A graduate from the National University of Singapore in Social Sciences, Jessica has over 27 years of experience in the IT Industry, and has worked with Microsoft IBM. In her tenure with both organizations, she has held leadership responsibilities across diverse areas of the business. Her strengths are in business development, building organizational capacity and capability, leading profitable and sustainable businesses, developing strong customer and partner relationships, leading strategic business initiatives and successful change.

She serves as board and advisory member for several Singapore organizations and educational institutions. She is also the President of Netball Singapore.

Since 2006, Jessica has been an elected Member of Parliament (MP) in Singapore for the East Coast GRC. She was the Chairman for the Finance, Trade and Industry Government Parliamentary Committee (GPC) from 2010 to 2015. She is currently member of the Social and Family Development and Manpower GPCs.  In 2016, Jessica was appointed Chairman for the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).  In her free time, she enjoys reading, jogging to keep fit and cooking for family and friends.

Marjet Andriesse
Head of Enterprise, Asia, Telstra

An Economics graduate, Marjet Andriesse is Head of Enterprise – Asia for Telstra and brings more than 25 years’ experience in sales, customer delivery and management. At Telstra, she is responsible for leading and driving the growth strategy for Telstra’s enterprise business in Asia.

Marjet’s experience spans industries including telecommunications, logistics as well as HR. This includes ten years in KPN NV, leading telecommunications and ICT service provider in the Netherlands.
Prior to joining Telstra, Marjet was with Randstad for almost ten years. During this role, she was responsible for accelerating the growth of public-private partnerships and heading the division responsible for outplacement in which Randstad is a market leader.

Marjet has also fulfilled a role as Country Manager of Randstad Czech Republic and Slovakia, as well as heading the integration of Randstad and Fujistaff Holding as Vice President & Board member of Randstad Japan. She worked with the industry association JASSA in raising the HR industry’s profile in Japan.

Jessica Cheam
Managing Editor- Eco- Business

Jessica is the Managing Editor of Eco-Business, an award-winning journalist, TV presenter and a social entrepreneur. She has a decade of experience in journalism with a particular expertise in sustainable development, and is also a columnist for The Straits Times and an adjunct research associate for the Centre for Liveable Cities.

Jessica won several awards including Global Journalism award at the Earth Journalism Awards. She was named Young Journalist of the Year by Singapore Press Holdings and her stories on sustainability won her the first Asean Green Technology Journalism Award by Siemens.

She founded Eco-Business in 2009 with a vision to provide a platform for the region to discuss and advance sustainability issues. Under her leadership, Eco-Business received the Lee Foundation Excellence in Environmental Reporting by a Media Organisation Merit Award at the Asian Environmental Journalism Awards (AEJA) 2013.

She is the published author of ‘Forging a Greener Tomorrow: Singapore’s journey from slum to eco-city’, and is also the presenter of a climate change documentary titled ‘Challenge Tomorrow ‘ on Channel NewsAsia.

Theresa Goh
Paralympian - Rio Paralympics 2016

Theresa Goh is a Paralympic Swimmer from Singapore. She has been representing her country in various international competitions for the past 17 years.

She believes her success has been largely due to the strong family support she has.

Theresa has participated in the last 4 Paralympic Games and was the first female Singaporean swimmer to qualify for the Paralympics in 2004.

A former world record holder in the 50m and 200m Breaststroke SB4 category, she recently clinched a bronze medal in the 100m breaststroke SB4 category,at the Rio Paralympics on her 4th Paralympic Games outing.

A pioneer in the disability sports scene in Singapore, Theresa strongly believes in the importance of seeing the ability in a person and not their disability. Theresa identifies as a Queer athlete with disability and trying to speak up more for LGBTQ rights especially in Singapore.

Grace Park
Co-Founder and President - DocDoc

With over 19 years of leadership experience, and Masters in Public Administration, Grace Park is the Co-Founder and President of DocDoc, Asia’s largest doctor discovery portal. DocDoc is a virtual network of physicians and hospitals supporting patients to find high quality medical care at a negotiated best price.

Prior to DocDoc, Grace held leadership positions at Medtronic, most recently as the Managing Director for its ASEAN operations, Over the years, she has also worked in companies such as Bristol-Myers Squibb to market its innovative medicines in the United States, Africa, and the Asia Pacific region.

Grace also had the privilege to serve in the US military in various positions including Military Intelligence Officer where she led a platoon as part of the rapid deployment force from the 10th Mountain Division, earning her badges in the Army’s Air Assault School and Airborne School, and completing her service as a Captain at the Pentagon.

Grace is an active philanthropist, and has raised significant donations for needy in countries like Vietnam, China, Australia and Singapore.

Asha Hemrajani
Member of Board - ICANN

A mobile technology expert, Asha Hemrajani a senior corporate executive with over 25 years of experience in corporate governance, management consulting and in the mobile communications sector with leading multinational telecommunications corporations.

In 2014, Asha was appointed a member of the Board of Directors at Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), where she also serves as Chair of the Board Finance Committee and is a member of the Board Governance Committee.

She is an accredited mediator and was named a Court Appointed Mediator by the State Courts of Singapore in 2015. She is also currently Principal Consultant with the Business Evaluation Centre, specializing in project management, risk management, conflict management and calculating the financial value of non-capital expenditure projects to assist in advanced decision making and business operational tuning.

Asha has extensively knowledge of wireless technology, mobile radio network, design, infrastructure, planning, optimization, 3G, 4G network.   She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and completed the Stanford University Graduate School of Business Executive Program in International Management.

Tim Rath
CPO - Lazada

A Law graduate from University of Bonn, Tim Rath is one of the founders of Lazada and is the Chief People Officer of the Lazada Group. Prior to his role as CPO, Tim was the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Commercial Officer of Lazada, successfully building up the 3rd party business for the group.

As Chief People Officer, Tim is shaping the future of Lazada by designing the best People experience in SEA and defining the strategy for a future-focused organization. Before Lazada, Tim was the Managing Director & Co-founder at Rocket Internet Rocket Internet GmbH, the leading European venture capital incubator

Throughout his career, Tim has worked with global management consulting firms such as Boston Consulting Group. Tim was also the founding partner for auXesia Capital, an investment fund focused on start-ups in the digital world with a focus on marketplace and mobile models.

Under his leadership, Lazada Group’s People team recently won the Best Change Management Strategies category at the HRM Awards 2017.

Devadas Krishnadas
CEO Future-Moves Group

Devadas is the Founder and CEO of Future-Moves Group Pte. Ltd (FMG), a strategic management consulting firm. He is also an Independent Director of reinsurance firm PartnerRe Asia Pte. Ltd. and the direct insurer, Auto & General Insurance Singapore Pte. Ltd.

Prior to founding FMG, Devadas spent over 15 years in the Singapore Government, playing a key role in developing Singapore’s security, fiscal and social policies. During his time in the Singapore public service, he successfully led efforts in long-term planning, Budget coordination, and effective economic strategic thinking.

Devadas is also a recognised public intellectual and author. His latest book, The Seduction of the Simple, ananthology of his public commentaries, was released in 2016.

Jan Anne Schelling
Vice President HR Asia-DSM

Masters in Aerospace Engineering, Jan Anne Schelling is Vice President HR Asia and Regional Vice President HR DNP APAC. He is leading the HR business partner team to develop and grow the Nutrition business, organization, and people in Asia; further he leads the HR transformation and related change management in DSM HR Asia.

Main topic of his interest is to develop talents and organizations towards high performance, for instance in the Netherlands he implemented in his organization a self-steering concept and a culture of continuous learning. Since 2011, Jan Anne switched his career to HR focusing on talent management and restructuring and improving the efficiency of the organization.

In 2013 he started working as DSM China HR Vice President and lead the HR transformation in DSM China to further professionalize the HR function, and improved areas such as reward system, talent acquisition and talent development with emphasis on change management.

Maya Hari
Managing Director -Twitter

An MBA from INSEAD and an MS in Engineering from Utah State University, Maya Hari is a business leader with rich experience in Mobile, Data Services, Digital Monetization & Lifestyle Commerce.

With over 16 years of technology & digital lifestyle experience she is responsible for driving growth for Twitter in Asia Pacific. Prior to this role, Maya was Managing Director of India and Southeast Asia at Twitter.

Before Twitter, Maya spent over 15 years in the digital media, mobile and eCommerce industries across the US and in Asia Pacific region for brands such as Samsung, Google, Microsoft and Cisco.

Rana Karadsheh-Haddad
Country Manager-IFC

An Economics and Business Administration student, Rana Karadsheh-Haddad has over 17 years of experience in the field of international investing and finance. She is currently Country Manager in Singapore for the International Finance Corporation (IFC) where she is heading up IFC’s operations in Singapore, which includes infrastructure investments, infrastructure advisory, agribusiness, TMT/PE/Tech investments, IFC’s Asia Treasury Hub and three of IFC’s Asset Management Funds.

Before taking on the role as Country Manager, she was leading the infrastructure investment team covering Singapore and the Philippines. Prior to this, she was the Europe, Middle East and North Africa Head for the Global Chemicals Group, leading multi-disciplinary teams in executing capital intensive projects and leading IFC’s Global Fertilizer Strategy.

Ms. Karadsheh-Haddad’s deals have included debt, equity, quasi-equity transactions in Europe, Latin America, Asia and the Middle East for new ventures, expansions, operational turnarounds and acquisitions a range of sectors including infrastructure, fertilizer, chemical and petrochemical sectors. Prior to this, Ms. Karadsheh-Haddad was with the privatization transaction group of the IFC, where she was involved in the sourcing, structuring, execution and closing of major privatization and restructuring transactions in various sectors.

Junie Foo
Head, Global Subsidiary Banking - Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ

Junie Foo is the Chair and Co-Founder of BoardAgender, an initiative of the Singapore Council of Women’s Organisation (SCWO), management committee of the SCWO Service Fund, council member of the Singapore Institute of Directors, member of the governing council of SIM and former member of the Diversity Action Committee (2014-2016).

As Head of Corporate Banking Singapore and Head of Global Subsidiary Banking, Junie is also the first non-Japanese, first female Singaporean in management in the Corporate Banking Asia Oceania Division of the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ Ltd.

A champion of women advancing into senior leadership roles, she views a focus on gender diversity within organisations to be both a recipe for business success and a socially responsible measure.

She speaks frequently at business conferences both locally and internationally, which included addressing the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Women’s Leadership Conference in Peru on Open Business Facilitation for Women.

The seasoned corporate banker has previously held positions at ANZ, Standard Chartered Bank and Citi.

Yuko Nakahira
MD - 3M

A Master of Business Administration and Bachelors in Chemistry, Ms Yuko Nakahira presently is the Managing Director of 3M Singapore. She has more than 16 years of experience managing dynamic businesses and functions in a science-based company.

As the head of 3M Singapore, Ms Nakahira leads, strategizes and manages local business operations to achieve the company’s growth objectives, as well as oversees other 3M operations in the country. She is a firm believer in the power of collaboration and diversity, and the notion of “everyone matters and everyone counts”when it comes to people development.

Ms. Nakahira also worked with McKinsey & Company in the United States and Japan from 1998 to 2008, where she gained broad international experience across diverse industry verticals.

She began her career with 3M Japan in 1988. She rejoined 3M Japan in 2008 and led the corporate planning and corporate marketing departments, where she was instrumental in the effort to drive growth and productivity during the economic downturn of 2008-09. Later she led the medical and safety and graphics businesses in 3M Japan until rising to the present position.

Beth Boswell
Head, Communications - Alcon

A seasoned communication professional, Beth Boswell has over 20 years of experience in corporate communications with specialties in reputation management, technology and healthcare. She is an English & History graduate and a Masters in Mass Communications.

In her current role at Alcon, a division of Novartis, she is responsible for overall corporate reputation of the company across Asia. She’s also a member of Alcon Asia’s Diversity & Inclusion Council.

Prior to Alcon, she was Managing Director of FleishmanHillard Southeast Asia. She held a number of roles while at FleishmanHillard including strategic planning across Asia. Boswell also held posts as the managing director for reputation management (Asia), acting general manager of Shanghai and general manager of Hong Kong.

Before joining FleishmanHillard, she worked for another international communications agency. Previously, she worked in Canada as a communications assistant to the Attorney General and Minister of Health in the Ontario government and as a policy advisor on illegal drugs.

She is a member of the Asia-Pacific Association of Communications Directors.

Raman Sidhu
Global Head of Learning, Global Commercial-Shell

Raman Sidhu is a Global Learning & Development professional with a unique blend of business experience in Sales & Marketing, Supply Chain and HR spanning over twenty years.

He has expertise in Learning strategy and developing & deploying learning solutions globally. Femke Hellemons is the Country Manager for Adecco Singapore, the Swiss-based global leader in Human Resource Solutions. Femke is an experienced HR professional with almost 20 years of diverse experience within the HR industry.

Her career with Adecco began in 1999, when she joined the company as a Branch Manager in the Netherlands. After three years, she became an Area Manager, before moving into a managed services role in 2008, that saw her highly involved in the strategic servicing of Adecco key clients in the Netherlands. She graduated in International Management from Hogeschool van Utrecht, Netherlands, and has attended the Adecco Leadership Programme in IMD in Switzerland.

Ian Martin

Ian Martin, the Chief Executive Officer of HSBC Insurance (Singapore) Pte Limited, is holding this top job since 11th July 2014. In his role as the CEO he oversees all operations, finance, distribution management and third-party business under his responsibility. Ian also sits on the Board of the Singapore HSBC Bank senior management team and the Board of INAH.

Prior to joining HSBC Insurance Singapore, Ian joined HSBC Insurance UK since 2005 as Head of the Retirement Business and went on to hold various positions until he was appointed as Head of Insurance UK, CEO HSBC Life from 2012 – 2014.

As a UK qualified Actuary, Ian has held senior roles in actuarial, product development, marketing, communications, distribution and corporate transactions.

Ian is a trustee and Chair of The Quest School for children with autism and in his spare time enjoys playing sport and music.

Prerna Suri

Prerna Suri is an award-winning journalist and communicator with over 14 years in major global newsrooms and multilateral organizations. She has reported from 14 different countries on contemporary global politics and business for Al Jazeera English, BBC World and CNN. Currently, she works at Channel NewsAsia in Singapore, with her latest documentary film investigating the European refugee crisis.

In 2007, she was the only woman journalist to enter Darfur and report extensively on Sudan’s civil war. In 2008, she was the only journalist to access Tibet during the unrest. She was the youngest foreign correspondent at Al Jazeera English covering extremely challenging regions and areas of conflict.

She also writes for The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Hindustan Times and The Times of India. In her spare time, she advises select firms and foundations on communication strategies and runs mentoring workshops for young women leaders from the developing South.

Nitin Gajria

Nitin Gajria is the Country Manager for Google Vietnam / Cambodia / Laos. He has been at Google for 3 years, prior to which he spent 13 years in Brand Marketing – 2 at Mead Johnson and 11 at Procter & Gamble working across the Asia Pacific region. Nitin is keenly interested in technology start-ups and is an angel investor himself. Nitin is a husband and a father. He hails from Mumbai, completed his education in Kolkata and has lived and worked in Singapore and Sydney over the last 16 years.

Carissa Dizon
Regional Head Hardware & Retail Mark- Google

Carissa is the Regional Head of Hardware & Retail Marketing for Google in APAC. Carissa joined Google in June 2012 and has worked in various mobile, platforms and hardware marketing roles. She started out her career teaching English in China, after which she worked at Procter & Gamble and Nokia across the Asia Pacific region. She earned her master’s degree in International Affairs at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs and her undergraduate degree at Yale University. Carissa is originally from Manila, Philippines. She loves to read fiction, practice yoga and spend time with her young family.

Pierre-Emmanuel BRARD

Pierre-Emmanuel is the Chief Investment Officer of AXA Insurance in Singapore and is responsible for supervising Investment & Asset Liability Management across AXA’s general, health and life insurance businesses. He has been living in Singapore for over 10 years in which he has held a number of roles across AXA including serving as regional head for hedging of financial products across Asia.

Michael Mingee
Senior Director Compliance - VISA

A Bachelor in Systems Engineering from United States Military Academy and a former infantry officer, Michael serves as the Senior Director of Compliance in Asia Pacific (AP) in Visa. His team protects the Visa brand by ensuring business is gained with high levels of ethics and integrity.

Previously to Visa’s Regulatory Compliance team, Michael held the position of Senior Director for Global Prepaid Clients & Strategic Initiatives as part of Core Product for AP & CEMEA where he managed a product development & operations team.
In addition, Michael has led technology development and production support teams within the largest trading firm on Wall Street as well as leadership positions with various US card Issuers (Capital One and Washington Mutual) and US & European Third-Party Processors (TSYS and TSYS Europe).

Michael currently holds the rank of Captain in the Individual Ready Reserves (IRR) and enjoys traveling across Asia, visiting friends and finding great places to eat and enjoy the local culture(s).

Tan Su Shan
Managing Director -DBS

A Master of Arts graduate, from Oxford University in the UK, Tan Su Shan currently is Group Head, Consumer Banking & Wealth Management. She also serves as the President Commissioner for PT Bank DBS Indonesia. Prior to DBS she has held various positions in Morgan Stanley, Citibank, Singapore Investment Centre and ING Baring Securities.  In addition, Su Shan sits in the board of several trusts and companies and is also the co-chairman of the Monetary Authority of Singapore Private Banking Industry Group.

Su Shan is also actively involved in social work including fund-raising for various Singaporean charities. She was a board member of the National Museum and a member of the International Women’s Foundation and the Young Presidents Organisation. Her contributions have been appreciated by the Singapore Government and she was a Nominated Member of Parliament in Singapore from 2012 to 2014.

She has received several awards including the Distinguished Financial Industry Competent Professional (FICP) title, which is the highest certification mark for a financial practitioner in Singapore, by the
Institute of Banking and Finance.

Sophie Guerin

A Social Sciences student with Masters in Public Affairs, Sophie Guerin is the Head of Diversity & Inclusion, APJ at Dell Inc and is responsible for setting and driving Dell’s diversity & inclusion strategy, serving team members in 18 countries. Her work in Dell includes the Asia roll out of the Catalyst Men Advocating Real Change initiative and introducing LGBTI inclusion to the region via the launch of Pride LGBTI and Allies ERG.

She has authored “Silicon Valley: A Look at Diversity Data Transparency” and co-authored a Community Business study, “Examining Diversity & Inclusion from an Asian Perspective”.

Before Dell, Sophie was based at Beijing and worked as the Head of Diversity & Inclusion for Community Business and Greater China Deputy Director for WEConnect International, a corporate driven non-profit that helps to empower women business owners. She is a member of the Diversity & Inclusion in Asia Network Advisory Council and the American Chamber of Commerce Hong Kong Women of Influence Steering Committee.  She is the Founder of Women in International Public Affairs based in Paris, France and is fluent in Mandarin and English.

Ayesha Khanna

Avanya Rao
Student - Singapore American School

A Grade 11 student at the Singapore American School, Avanya Rao believes that uninterrupted education is the logical route to gender equality and female empowerment. Realizing this she works for education and personal hygiene for girls her age, from less privileged backgrounds.

Apart from her studies, she is the Founding President of ‘Youth for Girls’, a Student Club at her school  which works to provide “60 days of dignity” to underprivileged girls, by raising awareness, funds and environmentally friendly products for feminine hygiene. Along with two friends she has been running a summer sports camp for last several years in Singapore, the proceeds of which is donated to Indian Council for Child Welfare for supporting Girl Children in India.

Moving ahead for larger roles, Avanya is all set to take on the role of President of UN Women’s youth chapter in Singapore in the next academic year. She has won several awards including the Social Media Contest on Youth Empowerment run by The Lien Centre for Social Innovation, Singapore Management University, She is an Honor Roll student at school, a trained theatre artiste and classical dancer.

A graduate from the University of California at Berkeley, Sarita is currently the Head of Recruiting – APAC for Facebook. She has over 15 years of experience in the recruiting industry.

She began her career with Facebook in 2008, and focused on International recruitment to help scale Facebook’s offices across EMEA, APAC and LATAM. Sarita took on the Head of APAC Recruiting out of Singapore in 2013. Sarita is responsible for the recruiting strategy across the Business and Sales functions, across 13 countries in the region. This includes the APAC’s hiring, diversity and employment branding initiatives.
